Studio

I ran the businesses before I built the websites.

Twenty years managing a real estate agency, an IT company and two construction firms in the Algarve. Then a decade in digital. The studio is what happens when those two halves meet.

The run, in order

1997-2001

Informática de Gestão

Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon. Business computing, which is why what gets built here is put together deliberately rather than assembled out of plugins.

2001-2010

Real estate, Almancil

General Manager of Única Azul, an estate agency, for nine years. Learned what a lead is actually worth and how badly most businesses handle one.

2004-2012

IT, Almancil

General Manager of Netnology, an information technology and knowledge company. General management and IT consulting.

2005-2021

Construction, Almancil

Manager Partner at URBI2005, then CEO of Parcitec Construções for twelve years. Payroll, tenders, sites, clients who do not answer the phone.

2011-2012

Community Management

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The formal pivot, taken while still running a construction company.

since 2021

Utopian Code

Founded to do digital properly: strategy, content, SEO and social for businesses that needed all four and were being sold one.

since 2023

MXCRODRIGUES

The studio. Websites, visual content, profiles and search, for the kind of business I used to run.

since 2025

New Nest Capital

Chief Operating Officer and co-founder. Real estate and investment solutions in the Algarve. Still on the other side of the table too.

Why that matters to you

Most people who build websites have never had to make payroll, never sat with a client who went quiet, never watched a quarter go badly because the phone stopped ringing. I have, for twenty years, in the same region most of my clients are in.

It changes what gets built. A site is not a portfolio piece. It is a thing that either brings work in or does not, and every decision on it is a commercial decision wearing a design costume.

It also changes what I turn down. When the honest answer is that you do not need a new website, or that the money is better spent on your Google profile, saying so costs me a project and saves you one.

How it runs

One person, working directly

No account manager, no handover, no brief passed down a chain.

What that buys you

You explain the business once, to whoever is going to build it. Decisions happen in a message rather than in three meetings, and nothing is lost in translation between the person who sold it and the person doing it.

What it costs you

Few projects at a time, and a real queue. If you need something started this week by a team of six, that is not this.

Scoped before priced

I look at what exists first. Sometimes the honest answer is a smaller job than you asked for, or that you do not need me yet.

Three languages

English, European Portuguese and Spanish, for the conversation and for the finished work.

Index

Where are you?

Portugal. The work is remote and the hosting is wherever suits you, so location rarely matters beyond the timezone.

What do you turn down?

Full e-commerce, anything that is really a marketing department, and anything that depends on promising a search position. I will say so early rather than take it.
